We went for Mother’s Day and had a great time. There were a lot of people there celebrating as well. They had a couple of food trucks and live music. The grounds are beautiful but get there early if you want a seat with some shade. Next time we will pack a few chairs or a blanket. Tons of space for the kids to run around.

Join us for our events while you sip, savor and indulge in our fine wines and craft beers. Discover the excitement at ZincHouse as we invite you to join us for meticulously crafted events tailored to our guests.

I hate to recommend and it's only going to get busier, but also want this place to succeed as it's an adult alcohol destination.Borrowed the photo from my friend. We will eventually have a house wine but our excellent, Sommelier-led wine program is in place to offer an outstanding variety to suit all palates and provide a true, diverse winery experience. Visit us for a beer, a wine, and enjoy our changing selection of food trucks.

Our calendar is updated monthly with our live music, food trucks, ticketed events and festivals.Welcome to ZincHouse. The Triangle areas premier destination. Warm, inviting, expansive (with an 'a'), very classy and one of the most comfortable places to just visit and relax with friends and family over one of their several bonfire pits. Plenty of heaters near tables for cooler weather.

Today the property has a total of 87 acres complete with vineyards, multiple event spaces, winery, brewery and massive roof decks that allow for incredible views of the Vineyard and Estate. Our beautiful, wide open vineyard & farm like setting sits on 87 acres of land and features vineyards, a large marble fountain and multiple buildings for different events (or one!). Heard about it months ago and had been meaning to check it out. Finally had a chance to do that on my birthday recently.

Very beautiful property, many buildings to choose from with TVs, really solid staff, huge beverage list and great vibe overall. Step inside one of the three floors of our main building – the ZincHouse. Or sit on the Veranda near the vineyards and take in the beauty, Next door at the beautiful Pavilion, a music stage and the Z-House of Bourbon & Cigar Bar awaits. Two smoking verandas outside the back also feature firepits and the same captivating views.

Check our calendar for more information. Kris Jenner ("The Kardashians"), Jennifer Garner, Law Roach and more also presented, honoring iconic stylists and fashion moguls throughout the night. Never one to shy away from a bold red carpet look, rapper Doja Cat took to the carpet in a fur coat paired with a glass of red wine. She presented her stylist, Brett Alan Nelson, with the Music Stylist of the Year award. The event strives to celebrate creatives in the intersection between fashion and Hollywood.

We’ve been to ZincHouse several times now and it doesn’t disappoint. Multi-leveled places for guests to sit and relax over a glass of wine, beer or bourbon. Large outdoor patio with beautiful fountain and room for special music. Guests can walk their vast property and visit the pond or barn. We went for their Christmas event with 80 vendors set up and Santa’s arrival. Multiple areas were set up around the property with fire pits to keep guests warm as it got darker.

One of the big drivers for this vision is the love that Kimberly and Mike have for this land. They want to share their love for this land by creating a space where people can fall away from the daily pressures of their lives and come away feeling inspired and with a sense of peace. Although we are no longer hosting private events at ZincHouse, we remain eager to share in your celebrations, milestones, and cherished memories. Your furry friends are welcome outside of our buildings where we have expansive seating and heaters for cooler weather.

Looking forward to many more visits. Beautiful beautiful beautiful grounds. I absolutely love the European feel and the classiness. The food trucks are a nice touch and the food I got was good. I got two different wines and they were both delicious and was a pretty good price as well. They also have live music and it made the environment even more relaxing.

It also served as a club house for a winter skating team,[7] and then for the professional baseball team called the Brooklyn Superbas, which would later be known as the Brooklyn Dodgers before their move to Ebbets Field. The Old Stone House sits on the site of the original Washington Park, and across Fourth Avenue from the second Washington Park, two of the oldest professional baseball stadiums in New York. The left-center field wall from the second Washington Park is still visible on Third Avenue between First and Third Streets.

"White plasterboard covered the walls and ceiling, and carpeted floors smothered the first-floor nave, with crude interventions from the '90s haphazardly altering the building use into a compromised family home," it explained. This involved stripping back walls, reorganising the ground-floor bedrooms and creating a "grand main hall" on the first floor with an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, Tuckey Design Studio said. Google Street Views doesn't take pictures moving along the paths like they do in Central Park, so the closest I could come to a matching photo of the location was this one that I found on the web.

After Moses Jewett's death, the house passed through several owners over the years. It was converted into the Brownington Inn during the early 20th century. Then in the late 1960s, the house was purchased by the Orleans County Historical Society and opened as a museum.

The stately two-story stone house was built in 1842 by Moses Jewett. Jewett was a local lawyer and statesman who served several terms in the Vermont legislature. The land was originally part of a larger farm owned by Jewett's father. Jewett commissioned the construction of the stone house in the popular Greek Revival style, using granite quarried from the surrounding hills.

During the Battle of Brooklyn in August 1776, soldiers from the First Maryland Regiment engaged a superior force of British and Hessian soldiers on the land around Claes Vechte's house.

Litchfield was the major landowner of the farmland in the area at that time and sold much of his land to the city for the creation of Prospect Park. The current structure is a 1933 reconstruction, using some original materials, of the Vechte–Cortelyou House, which was destroyed in 1897. The original house was an important part of the 1776 Battle of Long Island during the American Revolutionary War. The Old Stone House is situated at the center of Washington Park/JJ Byrne Playground, a 3.5 acre recreation site. We are devoted to supporting the Friends of Washington Park, and developing programming that enriches the site.

During the closure, police officers helped stranded drivers safely turn around and leave the blocked interstate by going in the wrong direction through an established detour. Before 4 p.m., all lanes were reopened going in the correct direction. The South Section added two tolled Express Lanes in each direction of Interstate 77 between I-277/NC 16 (Brookshire Freeway) and the exchange with I-85. The Central Section added two tolled Express Lanes per direction along the six lane segment of I-77 northward from I-85 (Exit 18) to Catawba Avenue (Exit 28).

The speed limit can be adjusted according to driving conditions at a given time. After leaving the northern Columbia suburb of Blythewood, I-77 narrows to four lanes until it widens to eight lanes at Rock Hill from exit 77 to the North Carolina state line at I-485. Early 1960s maps for Ohio showed I-71 and I-77 overlapped along the Innerbelt Freeway north to the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway. The Shoreway was proposed as the mainline for I-90 west from there to the unconstructed Parma Freeway.

A memorial service with military honors to celebrate Elliott’s life will be held on Thursday, May 9, at 6 p.m. At the Tarlton Complex on the campus of Catawba Valley Community College, located at 2540 Hwy 70 SE, Hickory, NC 28602. He was one of four officers killed in the line of duty while serving a warrant. A procession happened Thursday to honor the life of a fallen police officer William 'Alden' Elliott.

During the closure, drivers could have used the Brookshire Freeway or Wilkinson Boulevard as detours. "De-escalation is one of those things that when we can do it, we will absolutely do it," Horner said. Horner said in addition to the tools learned in the police academy, mental health training is also stressed. In an interview later in the week with WCNC Charlotte, CMPD Captain Matthew Horner said the "first officers that responded did a fantastic job."

Interstate 77 South - Charlotte

Population growth in this portion of the region expanded at a rate 50 percent greater than the average state rate between 2000 and 2010. As a result, the I-77 corridor currently experiences significant congestion which would worsen in the absence of the improvements. Individuals and businesses now have greater access to a reliable drive time. New guidelines now allow vehicles and certain types of trailers that are 22 feet, or more, in length to access the express lanes. The rate that is displayed on the pricing sign as you enter the express lanes is the rate charged, regardless of whether the rate changes while you are driving within a toll segment.

I-77 Express' Local Investment

Interstate 77 connects the eastern Great Lakes region with Appalachia and the Southeast. The freeway begins at Cayce on the south side of Columbia, following the Southeastern Beltway to Fort Jackson and I-20 near Forest Acres. The remainder of the route in South Carolina leads north to Rock Hill and the Charlotte metropolitan area.

I-77 Express Partners

Running along the Kanawha River into the capital city, I-64 and I-77 separate outside Downtown, with I-77 turning northeast briefly to Interstate 79. I-79 joins Charleston with Morgantown and Pittsburgh while I-77 remains along the former U.S. 21 corridor north to Parkersburg and Marietta, Ohio. Resuming a northward heading from Wytheville, Interstate 77 traverses a series of mountains to Bluefield, West Virginia.

If you require assistance, if possible, safely maneuver your vehicle out of the moving traffic and onto the shoulder. Turn on your vehicle’s hazard lights and phone I-77 Express’ complimentary roadside assistance. Not originally part of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956, I-77 was added the following year as a route between Charlotte and Port Huron, Michigan, via Detroit, Michigan. In 1958, the routing was realigned toward Cleveland instead; the Detroit–Port Huron section became part of I-94.

Not only are the I-77 Express lanes easy to use, you can expect a reliable trip with faster, more predictable drive times. "These officers on this U.S. Marshals Task Force are the best and the brightest and the bravest. Each day when you walk out the door for work, you understand you may never make it home," she explained. "I am in contact with law enforcement concerning the tragic shooting in the Charlotte area, and we have offered state resources to help," Cooper wrote on X. The CMPD initially reported that "numerous" officers were shot at the scene in the 5000 block of Galway Drive, which is in the Shannon Park neighborhood.

"We have two people of interest at the police station that are being questioned right now," Police Chief Johnny Jennings said during the presser. "And we have confirmed that the individual that was set up that we were serving the warrant on was the individual who fired the initial shots and was deceased in the front yard at the end of all of this." Fox News’ Brooke Singman reports on the identified officers killed in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed. Quotes displayed in real-time or delayed by at least 15 minutes. Video posted to social media appeared to show over a dozen police cruisers and two officers running at the scene.

Marshals Task Force officer were injured and are still recovering from their wounds. Marshals Task Force attempted to serve a warrant for firearm possession by a convicted felon. During a Monday evening press briefing, authorities said the recipient of the warrant was the one who initially opened fire.

The prices to use the express lanes are set by I-77 Mobility Partners. I-77 Mobility Partners uses dynamic pricing, meaning that prices fluctuate based on the average speed and number of drivers in express lanes to ensure traffic in the lanes is flowing. I-77 enters West Virginia through the East River Mountain Tunnel. At milepost 9, I-77 becomes cosigned with the West Virginia Turnpike for the next 88 miles (142 km), a toll road between Princeton and Charleston.

A nearly nine mile overlap takes I-77 west along Interstate 81 to Wytheville. Coinciding with U.S. 11 and U.S. 52, cardinal directions along I-77/81 run opposite one another in what is sometimes referred to as a wrong-way concurrency. The express lanes will not be clogged with stop-and-go traffic. In fact, at certain times of the day, it will feel as if the road belongs to you.

Toll rates may change as often as every five minutes to accommodate changes in demand for I-77 Express. The minimum and maximum toll rates per segment will be adjusted periodically in accordance with the contract and North Carolina law. Free HOV (high occupancy vehicle) travel is available for drivers who plan on using the I-77 Express Lanes after setting their HOV status with three or more people in the car. If a driver travels in the express lanes without setting HOV status, they will receive an invoice in the mail with the posted toll rate or pay the toll with their prepaid account. The express lanes will have a total of 11 entry and exit points along the 26-mile corridor.

Old West End Self-Guided Historic House Tour Destination Toledo

the old house

Begun in 1979 as a one-time, thirteen-part series airing on WGBH, This Old House has grown into one of the most popular programs on the network. It has produced spin-offs (notably The New Yankee Workshop hosted by Norm Abram), a magazine, and for-profit websites. The show has won seventeen Emmy Awards and received 82 nominations.

Season 40 - The Brookline Mid-century Modern House

Boston PBS station WGBH-TV originally created the program and produced it from its inception in 1979 until 2001, when Time Inc. acquired the television assets and formed This Old House Ventures. WGBH also distributed episodes to PBS until 2019, when WETA-TV became the distributor starting with season 41.[4] Warner Bros. Domestic Television distributes the series to commercial television stations in broadcast syndication. Time Inc. launched This Old House magazine in 1995, focusing on home how-to, know-how, and inspiration. Dozens of people gathered outside the state Capitol before the House and Senate were scheduled to meet, then filled seats in the public gallery as lawmakers voted, many of them carrying signs or wearing shirts showing their opposition to abortion rights. Many commenters decrying the demolition asked why the house wasn’t protected, saying that it should have been on some sort of historic list.

Lounging bear becomes a regular behind Los Angeles …

The project’s signature is the dramatic “living hall,” with its rustic exposed posts and beams. New host Kevin O’Connor, a former banker, trades in wing tips for Red Wings. Up to his neck in renovating a rambling Queen Anne, he was “discovered” when AskTOH, which is just in development, makes a house call. Looking for fresh challenges, the crew tackles its first true adaptive reuse project, turning a 1906 Arts and Crafts church in San Francisco into a young couple’s home. For the first time, a TOH project—the 1887 Nantucket House—goes from being a home renovation—to something closer to a complete rebuild. Ignoring common wisdom, the TV cast begins working directly with homeowners on the Arlington project.

Los Angeles-based modernist architect Craig Ellwood completed the Zimmerman House in the Brentwood neighborhood in 1950. There was a lot of mold and potentially hazardous areas in the house, that the couple tackled themselves. "Imagine having a house back in the day and you could play music everywhere in it from a record player," he says. "The record player was still there when we bought the house, so that was really cool." The couple closed in January 2024 and started the clearing-out process immediately.

Biden tries to downplay age with jokes, mocks Trump at White House Correspondents Dinner

Over several hours, including a four-hour session Friday night, Biden aides worked with the president to tweak his delivery and tone, according to the outlet. Ahead of Saturday’s event, Jeffrey Katzenberg, co-chair of Biden’s reelection campaign, reportedly held daily strategy sessions this week with his campaign team fine-tuning Biden’s comedy set, which was drafted by speechwriter Vinay Reddy, CNN reported. “Apologies to the New York Times, but as a Staten Islander, I get all my news from the New York Post. In 1985, PBS produced its own parody of This Old House titled "This Old Shack", which featured "Bob Villa" and master carpenter "Paul Thumbs" in a three-part rehab in Arlington. On one occasion, he put a gown in a washing machine and it came out as the shirt he was wearing currently.

Rudolph Bartley House1855 Collingwood Blvd. (1905)This is Toledo’s only intact Chateau style structure designed after a 16th Century French Renaissance Chateau. This mansion was appropriately built with massive hand-carved sandstone and roofed with red clay tile. Catching the wave of interest in small-scale living, the TOH team turns a 1,000-square-foot barn built in 1894 into a two-story in-law cottage in Concord, MA. Magazine readers or show viewers submit home repair or improvement questions to the four regulars, who sometimes also invite guest experts to answer more-specialized questions. Most of the questions are answered in the home-base loft, but one or two homeowners in each episode receive an on-site visit from one of the show's hosts. The visiting host assists in starting or completing the task with the homeowners' hands-on participation.

Old-house enthusiasts of all kinds will be delighted by our extensive collection of resources for their enjoyment and practical use. They include a wealth of links to businesses that offer products for old-house restoration, and also artisans and service providers to the old house trade, helpfully organized by region. Besides, we maintain catalogs to all manner of Web sites, publications, and organizations which provide information, advice and support for all aspects of historic buildings and living therein. To celebrate the 40th season in 2019, a retrospective and revisit of some of the more-notable projects were incorporated into a handful of episodes, with some of the original homeowners providing tours. The first house highlighted was the original 1979 project house in Dorchester. The series covering the renovation of the Westwood house (Weatherbee Farm) became something of a cult classic because of an escalating dispute between the hosts, Vila and Abram, and the homeowners over the direction the project was taking.

The third series to share the name is Inside This Old House, a retrospective featuring highlights from previous episodes. Old episodes are also shown under the program name This Old House Classics and were formerly shown on The Learning Channel under the name The Renovation Guide. Only the episodes with original host Bob Vila aired under that name. As of 2006[update], Classics are also carried on the commercial non-broadcast DIY Network as well as syndicated to local TV stations. What is it about Philadelphia’s favorite sandwich that drives Charlotte so wild? Whatever it is, it drove partners Ryan Hart, Greg Balch, and Hannah Smith — all familiar names from other spots, including the Crunkleton — to stake their claims with a popular spot on the geographic cusp between Plaza Midwood and Elizabeth. It’s a walk-up counter with limited outdoor seating, and fans stand in long lines to grab a classic version of a Philly. Richly spiced stews, warm incense, and East African art make this Eastside spot feel like walking into a well-kempt home.

North Carolina’s largest city, which sprawls from Lake Norman down to the South Carolina border, can be a hard city for outsiders and newcomers to get their arms around. Really, it’s a city of neighborhoods, with a lot of once-overlooked areas, like West Charlotte, finally challenging the busy Uptown as the place to find everything from regional classics to modern global trends. She chose to practice family medicine to help people of all ages in their quest to understand and treat their bodies appropriately. She treats patients of all ages with a focus on chronic conditions, including diabetes and high blood pressure.

The experience isn’t cheap — $175 for 10-course menus and $235 for 14 courses (most courses have more than one item, pushing the number of creations to as high as 50 bits and bites), and wine pairings can add $100 to $300. But it’s regularly selling out, proving that Charlotte eaters are willing to go all in on an experience. Is there a serious diner in the country who hasn’t heard the raves for multiple James Beard-nominated chef Greg Collier and his wife Subrina? The menu even features a rotating PWYC (“pay what you can”) dish, so every customer can enjoy a meal regardless of financial status.

It’s small and classic, with a full offering of rolls, nigiri, and sashimi, plus a great list of sakes. Despite the name, it’s a little more grown-up and elegant but still focused on classic Italian American cuisine, with touches like a mozzarella bar with fior di latte or stracciatella, housemade pastas and parms, steaks, and broiled branzino. The menu can seem pricey, but it’s packed with local ingredients and it’s all meant to be shared, like a family dinner at a table loaded with deliciousness. Wagyu pot roast, miso mac and cheese, and broccoli grilled with bone marrow butter will barely leave room for desserts like salted honey pie. When Kindred first opened in Davidson in 2015, the cult-favorite dish was milk bread —  pans of golden rolls based on a Japanese baking technique. It was such a hit, it became the inspiration for the Kindreds’ breakfast and brunch cafe, Milkbread, first in Davidson and now at their stylish reimagining of the classic Central Avenue Dairy Queen in Plaza Midwood.

A short time later in 1995 Dunavant Enterprises was caught up in a federal probe that dragged on for several years. IRS agents from the criminal division along with members of the Agriculture Department's Inspector General Office raided the company's headquarters, serving and executing search warrants for records. At issue was the misuse of a USDA program that had been implemented to stimulate the sale of U.S.-grown Upland cotton. The government would contend that midlevel Dunavant employees helped others in a scheme to submit false claims to the government subsidy program. In 1997 three small cotton firms pled guilty to a number of charges, including mail fraud, money laundering, and conspiracy, but it was not until a November 2000 settlement that the matter came to an end for Dunavant. Billy Dunavant's connections to the cotton business can be traced back to both sides of his family.

In late 1991 Dunavant, in conjunction with local developer Jim Davidson, unveiled a $1.37 billion plan for a professional-caliber golf course, resort, 7,200-unit residential component, and close to six million square feet devoted to office, industrial, and retail use. A major aspect of the project was the participation of the PGA, professional golf's ruling body, which Dunavant believed would greatly increase the value of the venture. In exchange for the necessary land, the PGA agreed to establish a PGA Tour Hall of Fame complex in the development, including a resort hotel, two 18-hole golf courses, and a gold academy. The Hall of Fame was expected to open by early 1994, but by that time the project was only just beginning to emerge from the development stage, the cost growing to $1.5 billion. In June 1994 Billy Dunavant and officials from the PGA and the state of Florida conducted an unusual groundbreaking ceremony, driving golf balls that set off explosions of confetti when they landed.

Dunavant Enterprises, Inc.

At the onset of 2002 Billy Dunavant offer a gloomy assessment of cotton, which had glutted the market. With more than half of the world's need for cotton stored in warehouses, he predicted that the price of cotton would hover in the range of 33 to 40 cents per pound for the next two years. Trolley Pub Charlotte is  a pedal-powered portable bar on wheels, with a certified Trolley Pub conductor in the captain’s seat. Perfect for pub crawls, birthday celebrations, bachelor/bachelorette parties, company outings, brewery tours, sightseeing, themed nights out- the possibilities are endless!

The conditions appeared ill-suited for a spike in cotton prices, due in large part to a record U.S. harvest of cotton in the fall of 1994, which at first appeared capable of supplying the need for cotton both at home and abroad. Dunavant, however, saw beyond the obvious, taking note that export demand continued to rise despite the ever increasing price of cotton. He surmised that the U.S. crop had taken on even greater significance because of three years of poor cotton crops in Pakistan, India, and China. Concluding that conditions were now ripe to push the price of cotton beyond $1 a pound, he acted accordingly.

The only party bike in South End, Charlotte offering $99 deposits and one free drink per rider. As Dunavant Enterprises, as the company was now known, entered the 1980s, a third generation entered the family business. After graduating from the University of Virginia in 1982, William B. Dunavant, III, joined the firm and began assuming a number of managerial positions as his father groomed him for greater responsibilities. By the middle of the decade Dunavant Enterprises was the world's largest independent cotton merchant, worth well in excess of $100 million and handling over $1 billion worth of cotton each year. To continue its pattern of growth, Dunavant took a number of significant steps during this period. H. McFadden & Bro., one of the country's oldest cotton merchandisers.

The business was heavily in debt to the First National Bank of Memphis, but Dunavant was able to meet with bank officials and convince them to maintain their backing despite the youth of its new head. Moreover, the U.S. cotton industry now faced steep foreign competition as well as encroachment from synthetic fibers that were becoming increasingly more popular.

He now attended Memphis State University part-time while he learned the mercurial world of the cotton industry, where business was done on the basis of a handshake and firms could be ruined after a single misjudgment. After White retired in August 1960, the company changed its name to W.B. Only a few months later, however, in January 1961, William Dunavant, Sr., died, leaving his 29-year-old son Billy in charge. While other father-and-son cotton merchandising firms fell by the wayside during this new era, Dunavant thrived. By his own reckoning, Billy Dunavant never made a single bad decision on the trend in the market until 1976, when one poor decision, and a serious drought in the Mississippi Delta, nearly ruined the firm. Government subsidies helped to maintain prices above the market rate, but it left merchandisers including Dunavant with very slim margins. In order to boost profits he made a concerted effort to increase his volume, and by the end of 1961 the firm was handling 150,000 bales a year and beginning a long string of profitable years under his leadership. Not only did Dunavant possess an innate feel for the market, he proved to be a true innovator and visionary. He pioneered the concept of "forward contracting" in cotton, whereby an entire crop was bought at a set price before it was planted. His ability to hedge with futures allowed Dunavant to increase his volume to one million bales of cotton by the early 1970s.

The project had evolved into the World Golf Village, which now included a Hall of Fame for virtually every ruling body in golf, including the United States Golf Association, the Royal & Ancient of St. Andrews, and the Masters' coordinator, Augusta National. In addition, the World Golf Village would boast a four-star resort hotel and convention center, three golf courses, a golf library and research center, a golf academy, a clubhouse, Mayo Clinic sports facility, and the new headquarters for PGA Tour productions. The golf village finally opened in May 1998, with attendance disappointing in its first year. Dunavant's residential project fared better, selling $50 million residential units in 1998, but in the summer of that year Dunavant opted to sell his interest to Pittsburgh-based Hillman Co. In September 1995 William B. Dunavant III, now 36 years old, ascended to the presidency of the firm. By now another family member, John D. Dunavant, was also occupying a key position, serving as senior vice-president of domestic sales as well as a member of the executive board.

He was also the first merchant to tap into the People's Republic of China, making his first sale to the mainland in November 1972. Later Dunavant moved aggressively to make sales to the Soviet Union. In the fall of 1990 Dunavant completed the largest individual sale of cotton in history, one million bales to China. In 1991 the company followed with an even better year, selling four million bales worth approximately $1.5 billion. It was also during this period that Dunavant became heavily involved in a golf enterprise utilizing land near Jacksonville, Florida, that had mostly been acquired in the early 1970s when it was used for potato farming.
